About the Centre

The Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma was established in 1992 to provide individual, family and couples therapy for individuals who have been sexually abused or otherwise traumatized or stressed by life experiences.

Types of trauma can include:

	Physical, emotional or sexual abuse
	Separation or divorce
	Chronic or terminal illness
	Loss of employment
	Death in the family
	Accidents or injuries
	Substance abuse in the family
	Challenging life transitions
	Witnessing violence
	Any other experience that has been causing physical or emotional distress

Our therapists are trained to provide services in the following areas:

	Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
	Depression
	Anxiety disorders
	Dissociative disorders
	Grief and loss
	Relationship issues
	Addictions
	Self-injurious behaviours
	Eating disorders
	Gender issues

Therapy is provided for:

	Children, adolescents, adults
	Couples, families
	Members of First Nations and Inuit communities
	Members of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgendered communities

The Centre for Treatment is also an incorporated registered charity which participates in advocacy for survivors of trauma and abuse, promotes public awareness, and offers training and education to professionals. In particular, the Centre is respected and recognized by our colleagues in the mental health community for providing:

	Supervision and consultation to mental health professionals regarding the treatment of complex trauma and dissociative disorders
	Practicum training for graduate level university students in trauma-focused therapy
	Conferences, workshops and lectures related to the understanding and treatment of trauma
