I
obtained my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of
Ottawa and have been working in the area of trauma and sexual
violence for the past 10 years. I work primarily with individuals,
couples and families who have been affected by traumatic events or
experiences. The range of these traumas can span from major life
stressors or transitions, significant personal losses, acute
injuries or natural disasters, combat exposure, sexual and physical
abuse in childhood and adolescence to domestic abuse in adulthood. I
work with issues in attachment where challenges with trust, intimacy
and safety in relationships impede the development of relationships
in which vitality, health and personal and relational growth can be
created and maintained. I work with individuals dealing with
challenges with their sexuality, sexual orientation and gender
identity. My clients range in age from infancy in the context of
parent infant psychotherapy to children, adolescents and families;
to adults both individually and in couples. Within the context of
psychotherapy with children and adolescents, I use play therapy and
other modalities such as the sandtray. Families and couples are
supported in finding solutions to their challenges together in a
non-judgmental and open environment facilitating growth and healthy
communication where children, parents and couples can flourish and
feel safe and loved. |
