My
professional career spans more than 30 years. As a psychotherapist,
lecturer, researcher, supervisor and consultant, I have worked in a
variety of settings: psychiatric facilities, university
counselling centres, a family and marital clinic and independent
practice. I am currently in private practice, and an Associate at the
Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma. I
formerly taught and supervised individual and/or couples counselling at Saint Paul University,
Clarke Institute Psychiatric Hospital in Toronto, and the University
of New Brunswick.
My education and experience includes study in
psychodynamic, cognitive/behavioral, systemic, emotion-focused
and experiential models. My integrative approach is tailored with
respect to the clients needs, moving the process forward in a
balanced manner. Most importantly, the foundation of my work is
based on developing a trusting and confidential relationship with
the client.
I enjoy working with adult women, men, and couples who are
confronted with past or current trauma (emotional, sexual,
physical), marital and relationship problems, life transitions,
grief, gender conflict and sexual orientation issues. I
include experiential modalities such as focusing and EMDR to enhance
the therapeutic process.
I maintain membership with the Canadian Register of Health Service
Providers, the Canadian and Ontario Psychological Associations and
registration as a psychologist in both Ontario and New Brunswick. My
services are fully or partially reimbursed through many insurance
plans, as well as the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch of Health
Canada. |
