Stories of Strenght

I screamed

I cried

I begged you to stop

But you held me down as you got on top

I didn't choose this

I didn't want it

I didn't ask for it

I resisted, but you made it fit

I felt my power drain from me

Until a hollow frame remained

I may be free in reality now

But silence keeps me chained

Shame crawled inside of me

To fill this broken shell

To keep me hidden from the world

I lived inside my hell

And then I met a woman

it had happened to her too

And in that moment I could see

a light of hope shine through

I could talk about it happening

Without the fear and shame

I just could not believe before

That I was not to blame

My story is not the only one

It didn't happen to me first

But don't compare yourself to others

the pain you endure is worst

Let's find a way to stop this

And set each other free

Cause if you live in Canada

Your chances are 1 in 3
