Crystal Tierney is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) residing on Algonquin, Anishinabek territory (otherwise known as Ottawa, Ontario). She is a compassionate, open, and radically accepting practitioner. She works from a trauma theory, body centred and liberatory framework. Her practice is influenced by somatic, mindfulness, and compassion-based therapies all with a trauma-sensitive lens.
Crystal takes a special interest in working with young adult (17+) women identifying folks who are survivors of relational trauma, specifically childhood, developmental or complex trauma. Clients may be looking to address befriending the body, negative self-image, and/or coping with heightened feelings or numbness. She is passionate about instilling an anti-oppressive and empowering framework into her practice.
She has continued training in trauma-sensitive mindfulness, narrative therapy approaches to trauma, and Internal Family Systems. Crystal is currently completing a 300h Trauma Centre Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) Certification. TCTSY is an evidence-based, adjunctive treatment for complex trauma and complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.
