CTSACT therapists are available to address concerns you may or may not identify as resulting from a traumatic experience. What defines trauma is subjective, meaning how you identify the impact of an experience that is important. These impacts may be challenges in your daily life and relationships, unwanted symptoms, and/or negative effects on your overall level of functioning. Life events many people identify as traumatic include: childhood emotional, physical, or sexual abuse; assault, rape, or violence; motor vehicle and other accidents; military combat/deployment; or witnessing any of the above.

You may also have concerns around other mental health issues such difficulty with relationships, sexuality, depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and coping strategies that have become harmful to you (e.g. substance use, pornography, gambling, etc.).

Our therapists will work with you to understand what is needed to best support you in your recovery. This can include therapy, assessment, or referrals to alternate or additional resources in the community. CTSACT therapists have experience working with individuals from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Fees for assessment and psychotherapy services may be reimbursed by extended health care or other insurance plans. We do accept self-referrals. Some insurers may require a referral from your family doctor in order for you to receive reimbursement; please check your insurance benefits plan for details. Some of our therapists are registered service providers with HCAI, Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (CICB), Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), and Blue Cross.
