Katjana Biljan
MA, RP,ccac
I am a registered psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I have a diverse background in training and community work experience from designing and delivering an expressive arts group in a substance abuse treatment centre to facilitating phase one skills in trauma recovery groups. During this time my client-centred practice also afforded me the experience in working with issues such as complex trauma, grief, loss, cultural loss, spirituality & meaning, anxiety & depression, emotion regulation and/or dysregulation, addiction and/or substance misuse, family systems, as well as identity issues.
Since I believe that people don’t belong in boxes, how we work together will be individualized often incorporating various strategies from an integrated approach. My formal training includes Expressive Arts, MBSM (mindfulness-based stress management), EMDR and polyvagal theory. I also borrow tools from CBT, Indigenous Focussing and Emotion-Focussed therapy, DBT and narrative therapy. I am also a certified clinical trauma professional with the international association of trauma professionals (IATP).
Having worked within a wide range of community environments for over a decade, I am comfortable with members from diverse cultural, spiritual/religious and LGBTQ2S+ communities and am an NIHB and Blue-Cross provider.
